Gift cards bring smiles
By Thomas Shirtliffe Ever wanted $5000 to spend on whatever you wanted? Well, three residents from the Beausejour area will get to do just that. Leone Rondeau, Joyce Semchuk and Paul Gauthier were randomly selected from a draw at the RBC branch n Beausejour that won them each a $5,000 VISA gift ard. The draw stems from a contest held during the lympic games torch relay this past winter. People were invited to the branch for a financial review and then had their names put into the contest. The winners were glad to have won and were also glad to receive the chance to win as well. "Th at was a great oppurtunnity and thank you," says Joyce Semchuk to RBC. Paul Gauthier was not able to make it to the event but he told the RBC branch that he was very excited to have won. Rondeau, a teacher at Beausejour Early Years school is just as excited, if not more. "I am very excited about winning and even more excited about spending it," she says. Keith Holliday, the RBC branch manager in Beausejour was pleased to hand over the prizes to the winners. "We are very lucky to have won three of the fi ve VISA gift cards with people all from the Beausejour area," he says. Holliday goes on to thank fellow employee Lucy Corriea, who made sure the names got into the contest. Th e contest was held beginning last year, between October 30, 2009 to March 31, 2010.

Jim Hayes resigns as health authority CEO
By Marc Zienkiewicz North Eastman Health Association (NEHA) Chief Executive Offi cer Jim Hayes has resigned, the regional health authority announced on Wednesday. In a statement, NEHA board chair Margaret Mills says Hayes will be leaving the organization, but did not specify exactly when. Mills says Hayes "will be pursuing other career interests." A message left on Hayes' answering machine was not returned prior to press time. Hayes has been with NEHA for a decade. He oversaw countless projects in the region over the years, including upgrades to hospitals in the area. He was often the target of controversy as well, especially in recent months when a NEHA plan to shut down the Pinawa and Lac du Bonnet ambulance bays and merge them was accidentally made public on the health authority's website. The plan was later abandoned and Hayes formally apologized.
